I’m Alan Score, a professional piano tuner based in Sandhurst with over 30 years’ experience.
I began my career at 16 with a five-year apprenticeship in piano renovation at Hickies, alongside two years studying piano tuning at the London College of Furniture.
Since starting my own tuning and renovation business in 1990, I’ve dedicated my working life to ensuring pianos stay in great playing condition, whether they’re in family homes or performance spaces.
Over the years I’ve worked with a wide range of clients including private households, schools, colleges, and local music events and concerts.
I’ve tuned for organisations such as Eton College, Wellington College, the Windsor Music Festival, The Mill at Sonning and Phyllis Court Club. I also carry out work in my area for respected London-based companies including Markson Pianos and Chris Venables Pianos.
I’m trained to work on all makes of acoustic piano, from modern instruments to antique family pianos with decades of history.
Every piano — and every owner — is different, so I take the time to listen and understand what’s needed. I believe in giving honest, impartial advice and explaining things clearly, whether the piano is brand new, well loved or hasn’t been tuned for years.
My aim is always to do what’s right for the piano and fair for the customer. I take pride in offering an affordable, reliable and friendly service that people feel comfortable coming back to year after year.
I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch below to enquire about my piano tuning services and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
